Black Mountain Financial — Strategic Capital Advisory

Business Advisory

Clearer business decisions before capital is committed.

Your next move starts with where the business stands and what you want it to become. Business Advisory brings financial performance, cash flow and funding requirements into that conversation.

Your next stage

Put the business plan and financial position together.

Black Mountain Financial helps owners assess their position and prepare for consequential capital decisions. Based in Canberra, we work with established businesses across the ACT and regional NSW. The work begins with your objectives, then examines the financial choices behind them.

You may be considering a second location, an acquisition or a change in ownership. You may simply want to understand why a growing business still feels short of cash.

These decisions involve cash timing, existing commitments and room to respond if trading changes. We connect those facts to help identify preparation needs and whether funding work should follow.

The financial picture

Understand what the next move requires.

We agree the questions that matter before deciding which analysis is needed. Depending on the scope, the review may consider:

01

Profitability

What supports earnings and where changes need explanation.

02

Cash flow

When money arrives, when it leaves and where pressure builds.

03

Working capital

Cash tied up in customer payments, stock and supplier terms.

04

Existing debt

Repayments, expiry dates, lending conditions and security commitments.

05

Future requirements

The capital needed for your plans and the assumptions behind it.

06

Readiness

Missing information or unresolved matters that need attention before a funding approach.

The structure matters as much as the rate. Repayment timing, security and flexibility need to make sense alongside the business you intend to run.

How we work

Agree the question. Assess the position. Set priorities.

  1. 01

    Agree the question

First, we discuss your business, objectives and timing. We then agree a defined project scope, the information required and the work to be delivered.

  2. 02

    Assess the position

The assessment brings financial records and your account of the business together. We discuss gaps, test material assumptions within the agreed scope and explain what the findings mean for your plans.

  3. 03

    Set priorities

You receive written findings and practical priorities: what supports the next move, what needs attention and what remains uncertain. Any forecasts, detailed scenarios or implementation work are specified in the engagement.

Where a funding requirement follows, we can discuss a separate scope for capital structuring and lender engagement. You decide whether to take that step.

Working together

Keep your existing advisers involved.

Your accountant and lawyer bring knowledge that matters. With your agreement, we work alongside them to clarify information and separate the financial, tax and legal questions.

BMF provides strategic capital advisory and credit assistance. Business Advisory is scoped around financial performance and capital decisions. Accounting compliance, tax advice, legal advice and ongoing management of your finance function sit outside this offer.

Common questions

Business Advisory, explained.

What does a business adviser do?

A business adviser helps an owner assess a decision and the work needed to support it. BMF focuses on the financial position, capital requirements and preparation behind growth, acquisition, refinance or ownership change.

How does this differ from an accountant or outsourced CFO?

Your accountant remains responsible for their agreed accounting and tax work. An outsourced CFO may manage an ongoing finance function. BMF's Business Advisory is a defined project focused on your financial position and capital decision.

When should I seek advice before applying for finance?

Once a material change is being considered, a discussion can help identify preparation needs. Bring the objectives and timing you know. We can then establish which financial questions need answering before a lender approach.

What information is needed to begin?

Start with your plans and a summary of the current position. The agreed review may require financial statements, management accounts, current lending details and forecasts. We confirm the document request for your project.

Can you help if the business is not ready for a lender?

Yes. Identifying the information gaps and preparation priorities can be the purpose of the engagement. A review may conclude that further work is needed before considering finance.

Is this an ongoing service?

This offer is project-based. Scope, deliverables, fees and timing are agreed before work starts. Further analysis or funding execution requires a separate agreement.
